VILLAGE OF RIVERLEA
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
DECEMBER 18, 2005

THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF RIVERLEA MET FOR A SPECIAL MEETING ON THE ABOVE DATE AT 302 WEST RIVERGLEN DRIVE. THE FOLLOWING COUNCIL MEMBERS WERE PRESENT: MARY JO CUSACK, MAYOR; PAMELA M. COLWELL; SCOTT K. GORDON; JOHN A. SCHAER; RENEE SHANNON; RODNEY TETTENHORST AND PAUL J. ZENISEK. ALSO PRESENT WERE NEIL R. MORTINE, MARSHAL AND DAN E. OWENS, CLERK-TREASURER. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 6:00 P.M.

THE MAYOR REPORTED THAT SHE WAS CONTACTED BY THE CITY OF WORTHINGTON AT ABOUT 4:30 P.M. ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2005. WORTHINGTON EXPRESSED AN INTEREST IN MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE VILLAGE ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2005, RELATIVE TO THE PENDING POLICE CONTRACT.

COUNCIL DISCUSSED THE PROPOSITION AT LENGTH. ISSUES OF RESPONSE TIME, NUMBER OF PATROLS PER SHIFT AND COST WERE CONSIDERED. COUNCIL EXPRESSED LITTLE INTEREST IN A REDUCTION IN SERVICE BUT WOULD APPRECIATE A REDUCTION IN THE COST OF POLICE PROTECTION. THE POSSIBILITY OF POLICE PROTECTION BEING OFFERED BY OTHER JURISDICTIONS WAS MENTIONED.

THE MAYOR REQUESTED THAT GORDON AND ZENISEK JOIN HER AT THE PROPOSED MEETING WITH THE CITY OF WORTHINGTON.

THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS THAT COULD BE DISCUSSED, SCHAER MOVED AND COLWELL SECONDED A MOTION TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. THE FOLLOWING VOTE WAS RECORDED ON THE MOTION: YEA, 6; COLWELL, GORDON, SCHAER, SHANNON, TETTENHORST AND ZENISEK: NAY, NONE. THE MOTION CARRIED 6-0. THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 6:33 P.M.
