The Worthington News ran an advertisement to announce the development of Riverlea, which would provide 267 home sites. The Van De Boe-Hager Company of Cleveland, Ohio platted, subdivided and improved the land – the plat was approved in June of 1924. This same company was already developing several other areas in and around Columbus including Beechwold and Sharon Heights. Home prices ranged from $6,000 to $12,000 – expensive by 1920s standards. The Village of Riverlea was incorporated in 1939 and is an independent entity with its own mayor and village council, although bordered by the City of Worthington on three sides, and the Olentangy river to the west.
