A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held October 10, 2022 at Thomas Worthington High School. Members present were Bryce Jacob (Planning Commissioner), Christopher Bedell, Paul Collini, Rich Skowronski, and Jennifer Zipfel. Also present was David Stroman. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

  1. The minutes of the regular Planning Commission meeting of September 12, 2022 were not read since each member had received a copy. Bedell moved and Collini seconded the motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 5, Bedell, Collini, Jacob, Skowronski, and Zipfel; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 5-0.

  1. An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by David Stroman at 155 W Southington Ave to install paver steps and a patio in the rear of the house. The plans also include the addition of a six foot sliding glass door for access to the patio. The door will be the same style and color as the rest of the house.

The dimensions of the patio will be 15’ x 11’ and steps the width of the door will be added from the house. The material used will be concrete pavers with a similar look to swept concrete. The lot coverage after the addition of the patio will be 29%, so this is not a concern. The Planning Commissioner requested that efforts be made to protect the curb from being damaged by the equipment to be used in this project.

Collini moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness as shown in the plans. Zipfel seconded this motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 5, Bedell, Collini, Jacob, Skowronski, and Zipfel; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 5-0.

  1. The Planning Commissioner noted that there have been issues with gravel being dumped on curbs during work on patios within the Village. He stated that he may seek to amend the street bond policy to cover this.

Collini moved and Skowronski seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion was approved unanimously (5-0). The meeting was adjourned at 7:20  p.m.
