A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held January 9, 2023 at Thomas Worthington High School. Members present were Bryce Jacob (Planning Commissioner), Christopher Bedell, Paul Collini, Rich Skowronski, and Jennifer Zipfel. Also present were Cory Shields and Kent Shimeall. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.

  1. The minutes of the regular Planning Commission meeting of December 12, 2022 were not read since each member had received a copy. Collini moved and Bedell seconded the motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 5, Bedell, Collini, Jacob, Skowronski, Zipfel; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 5-0.
  2. An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Jeff and Diane Amick at 225 W Riverglen Dr to add a screened in porch on the east side of the house. The coloring and materials for the porch will match the existing house, including the stone pattern on the bottom and wood siding on top. Existing materials will be salvaged for use on the porch as much as possible. The hip roofline will tie into the existing roofline.

Also included in the plans was the replacement of the existing stone patio at the rear of the house with a stamped concrete patio. The pattern will match that of the patio in the Circle Park across the street. After the addition of the porch and patio replacement, the lot coverage is estimated to be 29%, which is acceptable.

The plans also call for the removal of one window well, to be filled in with blocks.

Collini moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for the project as shown in the plans and Zipfel seconded this motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 4, Bedell, Collini, Jacob, Skowronski, and Zipfel; Nay: None; Abstain: Jacob. The motion carried 4-0-1.

Skowronski moved and Bedell seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion was approved unanimously (5-0). The meeting was adjourned at 7:16  p.m.
