Council Attendees: Mayor Daniel Schlichting, Jeffrey Amick, Thomas Bell, Jeffrey Mussman, Kent Shimeall, Suzanne Surface
- Ordinance 01-2026 – An Ordinance to Adopt a Cybersecurity Governance Program for the Village of Riverlea had its third reading and was adopted by Council.
- The Mayor stated that the Village is discussing plans to work with the city of Worthington to reline a shared water line. Worthington had agreed to work with Riverlea and cover some of the costs as part of the agreement to grant the city the use of the village’s easement at the end of Melbourne during the 2025 Selby Bridge project. This work will likely be performed in late 2027.
- Council authorized the Mayor to pursue joining a lawsuit along with other state municipalities questioning the legality of a new state law banning the use of ranked choice voting. The law pulls state funding from any municipality that approves the use of this form of voting.
- Council discussed the placement of stop signs throughout the village and the possibilities of adding or removing signs.
- The Mayor distributed the proposed cybersecurity plan for the village and Council reviewed it before passing the adoption ordinance.
- Council authorized the acceptance of a quote for $950 for the painting of the benches and tables in Circle Park. This work will be performed in early June.
- A Council member and a resident brought evidence of residents continuing to feed deer in violation of the new ordinance prohibiting this. The Solicitor will pursue the next steps in the enforcement of this ordinance.
- The following expenses were approved:
$281.13 – Josh Mehling – Graduation banners & postage
$285.00 – Gudenkauf Corp – Water & gas line locating
