A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held November 12, 2018 at the Evening Street Elementary School. Members present were Bryce Jacob (Planning Commissioner), Janet Brown, and Robert Davis. Also present was Catherine Simon. Joshua C. Mehling served as Clerk. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

  1. The minutes of the regular Planning Commission meeting of October 8, 2018 were not read since each member had received a copy. It was noted that the date listed on the first line needed to be updated. Davis moved and Brown seconded the motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 3, Brown, Davis, and Jacob; Nay: None; Abstain: 0. The motion carried 3-0.

2. An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Catherine & Robert Simon at 5789 Crescent Ct to modify the existing attached garage. The garage is currently set up with 3 bays that are 8 ft each and the residents would like to make it 2 bays of 12 ft each instead. Ms. Simon mentioned that the garage currently has a steel beam running its length for support and should be able to handle this change. The work involved with this project would be pouring concrete and moving the existing pavers. If the brick cannot be reused, the solution would be to use the same siding as that of the rest of the house and paint to match the house. The new garage doors will be flat panel with no windows, painted white.

Brown moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for this change to the garage as shown in the plans and Davis seconded this motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 4, Brown, Davis, and Jacob; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 3-0.

3. The Planning Commissioner updated the Commission as to the status of the project at 5809 Olentangy since the last meeting. He stated that he had sent the residents a certified letter asking them to have the project approved by the Planning Commission or remove the project. He also sent a copy of this letter to the Franklin County Building Department. The residents had sent a letter to the Riverlea Solicitor explaining the project. The Clerk-Treasurer explained that the residents had submitted a request for a Certificate of Appropriateness, and that this would be on the agenda for the December Planning Commission meeting.

Brown moved and Davis seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion was approved unanimously
(3-0). The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 p.m
